We bike in an amazing landscape formed by the recent eruptions of Cotopaxi. On a clear day you´ll see 12 volcanos. This is the home of hundreds of wild horses, caracaras, deers, eagles, condors etc. After lunch we bike to the ruin of an Inca fortress that used to watch over the ancient route to the jungle. Extra: park entrance fee 10 $. TANDAYAPA CLOUD FOREST Highest point biking 9.300 feet/2.800 m. Lowest point biking 5.900 feet/1.800 m. Distance biking 30 miles/48 km. From the high mountain landscape we quickly desend to the steaming cloud forest! This is a bird watchers paradise and if you´re lucky you might spot parrots, toucans and hummingbirds. A great ride in the shadow of the active volcano Guagua Pichincha. PAPALLACTA “gateway to the jungle” Highest point biking 14.200 feet/4.300 m. Lowest point biking 6.900 feet/2.100 m. Distance biking 47 miles/75 km. An amazing ride from the high mountain to the border of the Amazonas jungle. After we enjoyed the local trout for lunch we soak in the local thermal pools.
